Membership
"The networking opportunities through my IOCP membership are a valuable resource. The ability to network with my peers in the public school sector has given me a whole different perspective on how to do my work. Before I attended a Regional Forum in Dallas, I had been struggling with getting all receipts from area campus sites. During the Forum, I had the chance to network with others who dealt with the same issue. One attendee shared her solution: create mailing envelopes so that staff members could send their receipts to their P-Card Administrator. This sounds simple, but without the networking opportunity, we would not have solved this large issue so easily.
The IOCP website is a resource I use to keep up with changes to industry standards. There are too many places to check for updates and to keep track of changes but I can go to the IOCP website and find the updated standards with all the information in one place. Receiving e-mails from the eNetworking board on a daily basis is a valuable resource, too. There are typically two submissions a day and it’s great to see how many people respond. I have been able to manage our benchmark program through this network. It’s nice to talk with someone who is having the same problems and be able to work them out."

I have found much value in my IOCP membership. I am a member of several professional organizations and the IOCP by far offers the most value and options to support its members.

"I want to thank you warmly for enabling me to find guidance on your website. I had been searching for the guidance on spending federal funds for purchase of supplies. I found exactly what I was looking for at your website, without
having to look through irrelevant pages and pages of Uniform Guidance or OMB Circulars. THANK YOU."

“Each week I set aside time to visit the IOCP website, and I find the news section I go to get caught with recent developments. And the event calendar provides the one stop for upcoming events, especially if I miss an email.”

Certified Purchasing Card Professional (CPCP) Credential Program
“My vice president of procurement really values certification. He wanted the P-Card program to be managed by a certified professional. He wanted that level of trust within the whole organization, so people knew that the person managing that program was bringing real knowledge and experience to that program. So the value of the CPCP is that when I walk into a room to talk to cardholders or to talk to department leaders about our P-Card program, they look at me as someone who knows what they’re speaking about and they respect the information I’m giving them, the opinions I have about how the program can expand and grow, and the things that we should watch for.”

"Shortly after receiving notification that I passed CPCP exam, the Manager of Travel and Accounts Payable customized a job posting for me as Senior Analyst and Company Card Administrator. Not only is there a financial benefit to my new position, but there is also a great sense of pride in achieving a higher position within the company."

"Since the CPCP designation is already becoming recognized throughout the purchasing card market as an indicator of one's knowledge and experience, I felt it was important - and very worthwhile - to become certified. In my role as an Account Manager for the leading Commercial Card Provider in the industry, my clients look to me on a daily basis to share best practices, recommend strategies for growth, and provide general information to help them run the most successful card programs. My CPCP certification is one more way of building my clients' confidence in my credentials to meet these needs. It also reflects positively on American Express as an issuer, in that we're offering to clients and prospects a truly professional support team. Although I'd say the process, qualifications and test are sufficiently robust to ensure real meaning behind the CPCP designation, they are not insurmountable and I would encourage all professionals in P-Card roles to make it their goal to become certified."

Career Center
"After twenty years, my former employer went through a restructuring process which included layoffs. . . I had not updated my resume in nearly two decades, so I logged on to the IOCP site to get a feel for how to structure my resume as a Purchasing Card professional. After reviewing several postings, I completed my resume and posted it on the IOCP Career Center.
I was not prepared for what happened next.
Within hours, I received my first two e-mails from companies looking to set up interviews. From one of those leads, I ultimately accepted my new position as Purchasing Card Administrator. The IOCP Career Center was perfect place for me to post my expertise as a Purchasing Card Professional—and is the best site for companies to find qualified individuals in our specialty market. I still appreciate how easy the IOCP site made it for me to transition into my new company."

Annual Conference
"The speakers' level of experience and the diversity of topics covered were what I was looking for—
intermediate to advanced."

"I got a great deal of value from the conference in terms of overall education and resources. Great content and lessons in the breakout sessions, concise learning in the round-table opportunities, and meeting IOCP staff and discovering other resources. I also really liked the pace. This is one of the few conferences I attend that keeps the breakouts so reasonable in length. The presenters are forced to pack a lot into a short time and then allow for questions. This format is the best! It really worked for me! GREAT JOB."

"I liked the breakout sessions where I got to learn from other program administrators—their processes, challenges, solutions, etc. They gave me ideas on how to address similar challenges and spur growth in

"This was my first IOCP event and it was overall a fantastic experience. The people I met, the sessions I attended, the overall setup, was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the networking events and speaking to other attendees to learn more about what they do and the challenges they face."

"I really appreciated the opportunity to network with other attendees. Clearly everyone has passion about the profession and a willingness to share ideas, information and to offer assistance to those in need.
I am relatively new to Purchasing and to P-Cards. It was interesting to learn so much about the advantages of using the P-Cards and how others apply their rebates, etc. It was also nice to hear about the other people having the issues
with the compromised cards by vendors and new cards being reissued at such high rates. Thank you for all of the presenters you had who provided a wealth of knowledge."

"I found the speakers extremely good and interesting to listen to, in particular as they are in roles similar to mine and talk about their own experience which I can relate to in my job. It was well coordinated and well paced (not too slow not too fast)."
