Examples of How to Earn Points for Recertification
Note: Card-related work experience is not required during your certification period, but it is the easiest way in which to earn recertification points. All of the examples below reflect three years of such experience for
nine total points (three points per year)—half of the 18-point minimum requirement.
Creating a Plan
1. Review point-eligible endeavors and identify the ones of most interest to you.
2. As needed, review guidelines for evaluating other potential point-qualifying endeavors.
3. Consider the three-year certification
period and 18-point minimum requirement.
4. Strive to earn at least six points per year; for example, during year one:
three points for card work experience
two points for webinar attendance (at 0.25 point each, attend eight)
one point for attending a one-day, local P-Card event or taking a qualifying college course
Example 1: Involves Travel
Three years of card-related work experience: 3 points/year = 9 points
Attend three Institute of Commercial Payments Annual Conferences: 3 points/conference = 9 points

Fulfill a speaking role (i.e., deliver a presentation) at two of the three conferences noted above: 1 point/event = 2 points (speaking points are in addition to conference attendance points)
Example 3: No Travel
Three years of card-related work experience: 3 points/year = 9 points .36 webinars (e.g., 12/year during each of the three years): 0.25/webinar = 9 points
Example 4: No Travel
