The CPCP credential is valid for three years. Prior to your pending CPCP expiration, Institute of Commercial Payments will send via e-mail at least two notifications as a reminder—approximately
one year out and six months out. The notice will be sent to the address that Institute of Commercial Payments has on file for you, so please ensure that you maintain a current profile (whether as a member or complimentary subscriber)
within the Institute of Commercial Payment's website.
Grace Period
A grace period of three months beyond the expiration date on the CPCP certificate is allowed for the purpose of completing
the recertification process. Note: Points claimed—or the exam taken—for recertification purposes must be completed during the three-year certification period (not during the grace period), as shown on your CPCP certificate.
New Certification Period
If you successfully complete the requirements for recertification, the new three-year period will begin on the date when your current certification period ends, per the expiration date shown on your CPCP certificate. Refer to
your new certificate, once received from Institute of Commercial Payments, for the exact dates of your new certification period.
New CPCP Certificate
Institute of Commercial Payments will
prepare and mail new CPCP certificates in two batches. CPCPs who successfully complete the recertification requirements:
by the expiration date of their current certificate will receive a new certificate approximately two weeks after the concluded certification period
during the three-month grace period will receive a new certificate approximately two weeks after the grace period ends
Late Submissions
Recertification requests received by Institute of Commercial Payments after the end of the grace period will be declined and the credential will be considered lapsed/expired. However, the CPCP has the right to make an appeal
(
in writing), providing documentation of extreme, unusual circumstances that prevented timely completion of the recertification process. After a review of the appeal, the Purchasing
Card Professional Certification Council (PCPCC) reserves the right to decline any such late requests.
Lapsed CPCPs
If a CPCP fails to complete the recertification process by the end of the grace period (three months after the expiration date shown on the CPCP certificate), the credential is considered lapsed/expired. The individual must discontinue
using the CPCP designation within correspondence, business cards, etc.
A lapsed CPCP seeking to obtain the credential again would need to follow the same process as applicants who have never been previously certified.
This includes:
meeting the minimum eligibility requirements
completing the application process, including providing appropriate payment
scheduling, taking and passing the certification examination
